Booking bespoke tuition will guarantee a session built entirely for you/your group, whether you’re looking for a refresher or to sharpen your skills. Run by our qualified staff in sailing, canoeing, kayaking and stand up paddleboarding, sessions are 2 hour in length and either 1:1 or 2:1, or groups of 3 to 6, and include all equipment.

If you’re looking to work in the outdoors we can help you qualify as a sailing or paddling instructor, or simply keep your first aid up-to-date.
We're proud to be the centre where many sailing and paddlesport instructors start their careers. We select only the best tutors and educators to run our comprehensive instructor training programme. Many candidates go on to work for us, delivering high quality adventurous activities to our visitors.
We provide all the equipment you'll need, although you are welcome to bring your own, and a car parking permit for the duration of your course.
For the younger sailor looking to achieve their Assistant Instructor certificate, take a look at our Teen Sailing Club: here participants are encouraged to become independent, confident sailors, and is the perfect pathway for learning advanced sailing skills or starting on an instructor pathway.
For adults, work through the Introduction and Improvers Dinghy Sailing courses , progressing to achieve your advanced module through bespoke tuition before moving on to qualify as an Assistant Instructor.
Archery GB Instructor Award
27 and 28 April, 27 and 28 July | 9am - 5.30pm | £200 | Age 17+
The Archery GB Instructor Award is an entry-level Instructor training course that prepares Learners to deliver fun, safe sessions for beginners. It is designed for Learners with little or no prior experience of archery and is practical in nature with Learners take part in practical archery sessions.
You need to be 17 years old by the first day of the course and it is open to Both members and non-members of Archery GB

RYA Safety Boat
20 and 21 April |9.30am - 5pm | £250 | Age 16+
This course will teach you how to use powerboats for escort, rescue and race management purposes. You will learn how to safely rescue all craft used on the lake. This course is strongly recommended for all watersports instructors. Pre-requisite RYA Powerboat Level 2.
RYA Dinghy Assistant Instructor
29 and 30 June, 31 August and 1 September | 9am - 6pm | £130 | Age 13+
The RYA Assistant Dinghy Instructor award is the first step towards becoming a dinghy instructor. Participants will be encouraged to take a leadership role and develop their coaching & organisational skills. Once completed they will be able to assist as a volunteer on courses & events at the Activity Centre. This course is also suitable for people working towards their Duke of Edinburgh, Queen’s Guide, or Queen’s Scout awards.
Participants need to have RYA Stage 4 and at least one of the RYA Sailing Scheme advanced modules before taking the course. Ages 13+
Stand Up Paddleboard Discipline Support Module
11 May, 13 July | 9am - 5.30pm | £100 | Age 16+
The SUP Discipline Support module is a course for anyone who is leading or teaching Paddleboarding, whether you are already a watersports coach or not. It introduces you to all the key elements you need to know to deliver good quality Paddleboard sessions.
BCU Foundation Safety and Rescue Training
12 May, 14 july | 9am - 5.30pm | £75 | Age 12+
An essential course for any Canoeist, Kayaker, or Paddleboarder. Learn how to stay safe out on the water and how to handle situations when they go wrong. You need to be able to handle your craft with a degree of accuracy Paddle Discover or 2 star standard).
British Canoeing Paddlesport Instructor
15 and 16 June | 9am - 5.30pm | £200 | Age 14+
The British Canoeing Paddlesport Instructor Award is for people wanting to instruct introductory and taster sessions. The qualification will support the instructor in their first Paddlesport instructing role with practical skills, initial familiarisation activities, games and activities to support learning and how to use mini journeys to support learning, inspire adventure, and exploration.

RYA Dinghy Instructor Pre-Assessment
31 August | 9.30am - 4.30pm | £95 | Age 16+
Pre-assessment day for the RYA Dinghy Instructor course. An external RYA coach will assess your sailing skills to ensure they are up to standard before embarking on the course.
RYA Dinghy Instructor
28 October to 1 November | 9.30am - 5.30pm | £350 | Age 16+
Become qualified to teach dinghy sailing and pass on your love of the sport to others. Enjoy five days of developing your coaching style, refining your sailing technique and learning how to deliver sailing schemes professionally and enthusiastically. On successful completion, you will be eligible to work as a dinghy instructor in RYA training centres. Pre-requisites include:
